DataFlex Decompiling Service
The Database Managers can
decompile your DataFlex program(s). The decompiled
source can be emailed or shipped via your favorite courier
to you.
What will I get?
The decompilers generate one .SRC file for
each .FLX file. The generated source code is guaranteed
to be recompilable without any changes, and the recompiled
program is guaranteed to be functionally identical to
the original compiled program. See our Decompiler Guarantee and Disclaimer
for more details.
How much will
it cost?
The decompilation cost depends on the size
of the project (number of programs that need to be decompiled
and their total size) and the version(s) of DataFlex
that need to be handled. For an exact quote, please
provide the following information:
- The number of compiled programs in each DataFlex
version (2.1, 2.2, 2.3, ... 3.2, VDF, Web App)
- The total size of the FLX files in bytes.
The size reported by a directory utility (dir
for MS-Dos and ls for Unix) is used for this
value. Note that in all versions of Microsoft
Windows, the property panel for the file might report
an incorrect value because it rounds the size of the
file up or down to the nearest 1000 bytes.
Please contact
us for a quote.
We offer a freeware utility called Version that
will collect and report all of the information that
we need. It is available for download
from this website.
How to Submit a Project
In addition to the FLX files, we will need:
- all of the .TAG files
- all of the .FD files
- the FILELIST.CFG file
Also include a readme.doc file (a flat ASCII text file)
that contains:
- your name
- your company name
- address
- phone number
- email address
- payment information
The readme.doc file will help us to differentiate between
two projects received simultaneously. Put all
of these files into a .zip file and email the .zip file
to The Database Managers.
Turnaround Time:
Most projects are returned within 24 hours, but sometimes
external circumstances (holidays, conventions) may delay
the processing of a particular project. We recommend
that you coordinate with us before sending the project
by emailing
or calling us to tell
us that you are preparing a project for decompilation.
In some coordinated cases, we have processed the FLX files
and returned the source within ten minutes!
